Huu Nghi Border Gate Truck Route: Smooth Trade, Reduced Congestion

The specialized route for cargo transport through the 1088/2 – 1089 marker area of the Huu Nghi border gate in Lang Son officially operates from January 1, 2020. The import-export road project connecting the Tan Thanh border gate to the Kha Phong Control Area (China) via the 1088/2-1089 marker area is over 4.7 km long, with a total investment of 228 billion VND. The project has been basically completed, and the inauguration ceremony was held on March 21, 2019. According to Government Resolution No. 89/NQ-CP dated October 11, 2019, the specialized cargo transport route in the 1088/2-1089 marker area officially became a customs clearance route belonging to the Huu Nghi International Border Gate (Vietnam) – Huu Nghi Quan (China).

Thorough Preparations for the Huu Nghi Border Gate Truck Route

To ensure progress and put the route into operation, the Management Board of the Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone has directed the contractor to complete several items at barriers No. 1 and 2, including guard booths and the installation of electric gates and automatic barriers. The Tan Thanh border gate import-export cargo yard project has also basically completed the leveling and compaction of the ground for approximately 10 hectares.

To date, preparations regarding basic infrastructure, systems related to working and control buildings, barrier systems, machinery and equipment, and personnel arrangement to ensure the official operation of the Huu Nghi border gate truck route have been secured.

Completing Infrastructure and Legal Procedures

Under the direction of the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee, the Management Board of the Dong Dang – Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone and relevant agencies and units are completing the remaining items, such as handling landslide sections, adding traffic signs, completing the planning of roadside green tree systems, connecting fiber optic cable network systems, constructing yard service prices, and submitting them to the Provincial People’s Committee for approval. At the same time, Lang Son province is also researching and proposing the connection of the specialized route with the central area of the Tan Thanh border gate.

Bao Nguyen Company is implementing legal procedures for investment and construction, completing infrastructure to be recognized as a yard system. Relevant units are preparing facilities, machinery, equipment, transmission systems, etc., to perform tasks when the route officially goes into operation; reporting to the central government for consideration and addition of customs operation areas.

Expectations for the Route’s Operational Efficiency

Mr. Nguyen Cong Truong, Vice Chairman of the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee, requested the Management Board of the Border Gate Economic Zone to hold talks with China to agree on the time to officially put the route into operation from January 1, 2020. The operation of the Huu Nghi border gate truck route is expected to create favorable conditions for import-export activities, reduce congestion, and contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of Lang Son province in particular and the country in general.
