Da Nang, a dynamic tourist city, is renowned for its modern bridges spanning the romantic Han River. Among them, Thuan Phuoc Bridge is not only an architectural symbol but also plays a crucial role in the city’s transportation network. However, recently, the issue of overweight trucks violating regulations on Thuan Phuoc Bridge has raised significant concerns about traffic safety and infrastructure integrity.

According to statistics from the Da Nang Department of Transport (DOT), the number of trucks violating weight limit signs on Thuan Phuoc Bridge has reached 174 in a short period. Notably, many drivers intentionally disregard the signs and warnings from bridge security personnel. This situation arises not only from overloading but also from some trucks being modified to fraudulently alter their certified weight. The aim of this action is to circumvent regulations and pass over Thuan Phuoc Bridge, despite the risk of causing traffic safety hazards.
In response to this alarming situation, the Da Nang People’s Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 6307/UBND-SGTVT regarding the adjustment of weight limits for trucks on Thuan Phuoc Bridge. Accordingly, the current sign P.106a “No trucks” (prohibiting vehicles with a carrying capacity of 1.5 tons or more) has been replaced with sign P.106b “No trucks” (prohibiting vehicles with a carrying capacity of 1 ton or more).
The Da Nang DOT promptly implemented the installation of P.106b signs on roads leading to Thuan Phuoc Bridge. This new regulation officially took effect from September 27th. This is a decisive move by the city to ensure absolute safety for Thuan Phuoc Bridge, better serve the travel needs of residents, and especially support tourism development – a key economic sector of Da Nang.
