On the afternoon of June 29th, a serious traffic accident occurred on National Highway 13, passing through Bau Bang district, Binh Duong province, when a truck carrying bottled water crashed forcefully into the rear of a container truck that was stopped at a red light. This chain collision also involved a driving school car and resulted in a tragic outcome: the truck driver died at the scene, and the co-driver was seriously injured.
The accident happened around 12 noon on the same day, when the truck carrying bottled water, bearing Ho Chi Minh City license plates, was traveling on National Highway 13 in the direction from Binh Duong to Binh Phuoc. Upon reaching the intersection in Lai Uyen town, Bau Bang district, the truck suddenly lost control and hit the rear of a 4-seater driving school car that was stopped waiting for a traffic light ahead.
The strong impact caused the driving school car to be thrown to the side; fortunately, the two people in the car only sustained minor injuries. However, the water truck continued to rush forward and crashed directly into the rear of the container truck. The consequence of this powerful impact was that the truck’s cabin was crushed, completely deformed, and lodged into the rear of the container truck. The truck driver tragically died inside the cabin. The co-driver was seriously injured and was quickly taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
At the scene, the 4-seater driving school car was also heavily damaged, spun sideways on the road. The accident caused severe traffic congestion on National Highway 13 in the direction towards Binh Phuoc. Many crates of bottled water from the truck were scattered on the road, obstructing traffic and further complicating the situation at the scene.
Law enforcement, including the Bau Bang District Police and the Binh Duong Provincial Traffic Police Department, quickly arrived to direct traffic, seal off the scene, and conduct an investigation. Rescue forces spent a considerable amount of time extricating the truck driver’s body from the deformed cabin. The identity of the unfortunate driver was determined to be Mr. N.H.T (36 years old, residing in Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City).
The initial cause of the truck crashing into the container truck is currently under investigation and clarification by authorities. This accident once again raises an alarm about traffic safety on national highways, especially for heavy trucks and in complex traffic conditions.
