On August 20th, at approximately 9:30 PM, a serious traffic accident (TNGT) occurred on the Hanoi – Thai Nguyen Expressway, in the direction from Hanoi to Thai Nguyen, at Km 36+900, within the Pho Yen City area, Thai Nguyen province. The collision between a car and a truck tragically resulted in one fatality.
At the time, a car with license plate 98A-422.32, driven by Mr. Hoang Tien Tung (born in 1991, residing in Dong Huong residential group, Nham Bien town, Yen Dung district, Bac Giang province), unexpectedly collided with a truck bearing license plate 20C-226.85, driven by Mr. Hoang Anh Truyen (born in 1982, residing in Deo Nua, Phuc Thuan commune, Pho Yen City, Thai Nguyen province), which was traveling in the same direction ahead.

The car-truck collision on the expressway caused extremely serious consequences. The car driver, Mr. Hoang Tien Tung, died en route to the hospital. At the scene, both vehicles were heavily damaged, especially the front of the car, which was completely变形 (deformed) after a strong impact into the rear of the truck.
Immediately after receiving the accident report, functional forces, specifically a task force from the Traffic Police Department of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police who were on patrol nearby, quickly arrived at the scene. Traffic police officers coordinated with relevant units to carry out rescue operations, protect the scene, and regulate traffic flow, ensuring traffic safety on the Hanoi – Thai Nguyen Expressway. Simultaneously, the Investigation Police Agency of Pho Yen City Police also launched an investigation to clarify the cause of this car-truck accident.
According to initial information from functional agencies, the cause of the accident may be that the truck ran out of fuel and stopped on the expressway to wait for assistance. At the scene, the police recorded that the section of road where the accident occurred had no street lights. The truck driver had placed a triangular reflective warning sign behind the vehicle to warn of danger to vehicles traveling on the expressway. However, whether the warning sign placement distance ensured safety according to regulations is still being further investigated and clarified by the Investigation Police Agency of Pho Yen City Police.
To further clarify the details related to the car-truck collision, the Investigation Police Agency of Pho Yen City Police invited the truck driver to the headquarters to take statements and serve the investigation. Currently, the case is still being actively investigated and resolved by functional agencies in accordance with the law. This accident once again raises an alarm about ensuring safety when participating in traffic on expressways, especially in low-light conditions and unexpected vehicle breakdowns.
