Kia Morning Van 2024: Compact Cargo Van for Vietnam

The Kia Morning Van 2024 has recently been launched in the Korean market, reaffirming its position as a unique and economical cargo transportation option. Although called a “Van,” this model is often known more familiarly in Vietnam as the “Kia Morning Van pickup” due to its flexible cargo-carrying capability in the rear, distinguishing it from the 5-seater passenger version. So, what’s special about this new version, and is it suitable for small business needs in Vietnam?

Minimalist Design, Focused on Cargo Functionality

The Kia Morning Van 2024 retains the familiar compact design of the Morning line but completely removes the rear seats to maximize cargo space. The front cabin is left with only two seats, creating a spacious rear area ideal for transporting goods. The car’s exterior is designed to be simple and practical, omitting many elaborate decorative details.

Compared to the passenger version, the Kia Morning Van 2024 is somewhat “inferior” in terms of aesthetics. It is not equipped with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, or alloy wheels. Instead, it uses traditional halogen headlights, 14-inch steel wheels, and simple silver-painted exterior details without glossy chrome. The rearview mirrors also have only manual adjustment and do not integrate turn signals.

Practical Interior and Basic Amenities

Inside the cabin, the Kia Morning Van 2024 focuses on practicality and meeting the basic needs of users. Depending on the Trendy or Prestige version, the car is equipped with fabric or synthetic leather seats. In terms of amenities, the car is upgraded with an 8-inch touchscreen integrated with a rearview camera, modern USB-C charging ports, and a standard 6-airbag safety system.

However, other interior details are quite basic, suitable for a low-cost commercial vehicle. This helps the Kia Morning Van 2024 have a competitive price, targeting customers who are small businesses needing a flexible cargo vehicle in urban areas.

Engine and Performance

The Kia Morning Van 2024 still uses a 1.0-liter gasoline engine, producing 76 horsepower, combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission. This is a familiar engine on Kia Morning versions in Vietnam, ensuring stable operation and relatively fuel-efficient performance (over 6 liters/100km). The 4-speed automatic transmission may not provide optimal fuel efficiency like transmissions with more gears, but it still adequately meets the needs of city driving and light cargo transportation.

Price and Potential in the Vietnamese Market

In the Korean market, the Kia Morning Van 2024 is priced from 12.9 – 13.6 million won (approximately 231 – 244 million VND). This price is quite attractive for a small cargo vehicle equipped with many safety features and basic amenities.

In the past, the Kia Morning Van was unofficially imported into Vietnam and was popular in the Northern region. However, THACO does not currently officially distribute this version. With the increasing demand for small-scale cargo transportation in urban areas, the Kia Morning Van 2024 could be a worthwhile option if officially distributed in Vietnam, offering a compact, economical, and flexible urban “pickup” solution.
