On the evening of February 23rd, a tragic accident occurred on National Highway 38, passing through Km 80+900, Yen Bac ward, Duy Tien town, Ha Nam province, resulting in the death of a man. The driver of the pickup truck involved in the accident fled the scene and was later detained for investigation. Pickup Truck Accident Details in Le Hoanh Phong
At approximately 9:30 PM on February 23rd, Le Hong Son (born 1979, residing in Yen Nam commune, Duy Tien town) was driving a pickup truck with license plate number 90C-115.21 in the direction of Dong Van to Hoa Mac. Upon reaching Yen Bac ward, the vehicle suddenly collided with Mr. Tran Quang Nam (born 1996, residing in Duy Tien town) who was standing by the roadside.
Instead of stopping and taking the victim to the hospital, Son drove away from the scene. Mr. Nam was discovered by local residents and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment but died en route due to severe injuries.
Prosecution and Investigation of the Case
On February 25th, the Duy Tien District Police issued a decision to temporarily detain Le Hong Son for investigation into the act of “driving a car, causing death and fleeing” under Article 260 of the 2015 Penal Code.
According to initial information, there were at least 3 other people in the car at the time of the accident, all of whom work at the Yen Nam Commune People’s Committee. Mr. Vu Thanh Hai, Vice Chairman of the Yen Nam Commune People’s Committee, one of those believed to be in the car, admitted to being with Son but claimed that he was drunk and fell asleep, unaware of what happened. Mr. Hai stated that he thought the car had collided with an oncoming vehicle.
The Duy Tien Town Police Department stated that they are verifying and investigating the incident to clarify the details and will respond to the press after the results are available.
