Around 11:30 PM on December 31, 2024, on Le Duan Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, a cohabiting couple, Nguyen Van Dung (born in 1969) and Bui Thi Ngoc Anh (born in 1971), were arrested for “causing public disorder.”
The incident began when Mr. T.A.P (born in 1995, from Lam Dong province), a truck driver, was driving on Le Duan Street. Upon reaching 2B Le Duan Street, Dung, riding a motorbike with Ngoc Anh, intentionally blocked Mr. P.’s truck, preventing him from turning around. This action led to an argument between the two parties.

Subsequently, Dung attacked and beat Mr. P. Mr. H.H.V. (born in 1995, residing in District 7), a ride-hailing driver, intervened to stop them, but was also attacked by Dung and Ngoc Anh. Both then continued to assault Mr. P. The entire incident was recorded by bystanders and posted on social media.

After receiving reports from Mr. P. and Mr. V., the police investigated and summoned Dung and Ngoc Anh for questioning. At the police station, they confessed to living together as husband and wife, and stated that the incident occurred after attending a party on the night of December 31st. According to unverified information from authorities, the couple committed suicide after being arrested. The reasons for this action are currently unknown. The case is still under investigation.
