At approximately 11:30 PM on May 20, 2022, a severe traffic accident occurred on Mai Chi Tho Highway, passing through the Ca Tre Lon Bridge, An Loi Dong Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, leading to a fire that resulted in two fatalities. The incident is currently under investigation by the Thu Duc City Police.

According to initial reports, a 4-seater car (license plate unknown) was traveling on Tran Quy Kien Street from Diamond Island towards Mai Chi Tho Highway. Upon reaching the intersection, the car suddenly turned left, driving against the traffic flow on Mai Chi Tho Highway towards the Thu Thiem Tunnel.
In the area of Ca Tre Lon Bridge, the 4-seater car collided head-on with a crane truck traveling in the correct direction. The forceful impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames.

The driver of the crane truck managed to escape by opening the door in time. However, the two occupants of the 4-seater car (identities unknown) died at the scene due to the truck fire.
Firefighters and rescue personnel from the Thu Duc City Police Department quickly arrived at the scene to control the blaze. The cause of the tragic accident leading to fatalities from the truck fire is currently under investigation by authorities. This incident once again serves as a warning about the risk of fatalities due to truck fires following traffic collisions.
