Small trucks prohibited in the inner city from 6 AM to 9 AM and 4 PM to 8 PM:

Small trucks (under 2,500 kg) are prohibited from circulating in the inner city area during the two peak hours: from 6 AM to 9 AM and from 4 PM to 8 PM daily. This regulation aims to reduce traffic congestion during rush hours, ensuring smooth traffic flow for commuters traveling to and from work.

Heavy trucks prohibited in the inner city from 6 AM to 10 PM:

For heavy trucks, the ban period extends from 6 AM to 10 PM daily. Except for certain designated corridor routes, heavy trucks are completely prohibited from operating in the inner city area for 16 hours a day.

Permitted truck corridor routes:

Several corridor routes on the periphery of the inner city are designated for truck traffic. Specifically:

  • North and West Directions: National Highway 1, section from Hanoi Highway to Nguyen Van Linh Parkway.
  • East Direction: Hanoi Highway, section from National Highway 1 to Cat Lai intersection, Mai Chi Tho Avenue – section from Dong Van Cong Street to Vo Chi Cong Street.
  • South Direction: Vo Chi Cong Street (from Dong Van Cong Street to Phu My Bridge, Phu My Bridge to the elevated road, from Phu My Bridge to the Zone A South Saigon intersection), Nguyen Van Linh Parkway (section from Zone A South Saigon intersection to National Highway 1).

Reasons for stricter truck ban hours:

The number of trucks in Ho Chi Minh City has increased rapidly in recent years. Unrestricted truck operations in the city are a major cause of traffic congestion on many routes. Limiting truck operations during the day is a solution to minimize congestion and improve urban traffic conditions.

Conclusion:

The regulations on truck ban hours in Ho Chi Minh City are issued to reduce traffic congestion and improve the quality of life for residents. Transportation businesses and drivers need to understand these regulations to comply, avoid penalties, and contribute to building a civilized and safe traffic environment. Adjusting transportation operations to permitted hours or using corridor routes are necessary solutions to adapt to the new regulations.
