Train-Truck Collision Near Van Dien Station Halts Rail Traffic

Early in the morning of September 4th, a serious accident occurred on the railway line near Van Dien station, Thanh Tri, Hanoi, when passenger train SE4 collided with a truck. The incident disrupted North-South railway traffic and caused public concern.

At approximately 5:20 AM, passenger train SE4, traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, unexpectedly crashed into a truck attempting to cross a level crossing, a section with traffic lights and adequate warning signs.

The powerful impact caused the truck to spin sideways on the tracks, with the cargo bed severely deformed. The train engine also sustained minor dents. Fortunately, the truck cabin was not significantly damaged, and the driver sustained only minor injuries, reportedly leaving the scene on their own, according to the train driver.

Immediately after the train-truck accident, law enforcement quickly arrived to handle the situation. The truck was trapped under the train engine, obstructing railway traffic. By around 6:30 AM, a specialized rescue vehicle was dispatched to clear the scene.

After more than an hour of effort, by 7:00 AM, the truck wreckage was removed from the tracks, and train SE4 resumed its journey to Hanoi station. This train-truck collision once again sounded an alarm regarding traffic law compliance at level crossings, areas with a high potential for railway accidents.
