Free Rides for the Needy: The Story of a Kind Motorbike Taxi Driver

The story of Tien, a motorbike taxi driver in Ho Chi Minh City, is going viral. He has placed a sign on his motorbike offering “free rides” to people with disabilities, visually impaired individuals, lottery ticket sellers, those unable to work, and unemployed individuals in difficult circumstances, along with the message: “I also provide support for gas refills and tire repairs. Call me if you need help. The only cost is a smile.”

A Motorbike Driver’s Journey of Spreading Love

Tien’s simple but heartwarming sign has touched the hearts of many. This beautiful act quickly attracted tens of thousands of views and interactions on social media.

Tien shared that during his work, he encountered many difficult lives, which motivated him to do something to help them, even if it was just a small thing. “A torn leaf protects a tattered leaf” – Tien confided.

Smiling Through Hardship

Despite his income decreasing after 4 months of offering free rides, Tien remains undeterred. Every day, he wakes up early, fully charges his motorbike, and sets off to earn a living.

When someone calls asking for a free ride or reports running out of gas or a flat tire, he immediately pauses his work to provide assistance. Even if his vehicle runs out of power, he will return home to get his motorcycle to continue his journey of helping people.

Despite the hard work, Tien always feels happy and fulfilled. He shares the joy of helping others, especially those manual laborers in difficult circumstances. He even has special “regulars,” such as a disabled woman whom he consistently gives free rides to every day. In addition to free rides, Tien also diligently assists his customers, guiding those who are illiterate to spell words.

Rich in Kindness, Not Wealth

However, alongside the joys, Tien also faces many annoyances. His phone number, which was posted on social media, has led to many calls asking to borrow money. Many people assume he is rich and that’s why he does good deeds, but Tien just smiles and says, “It’s true that I’m rich, but I’m rich in kindness.”

At the age of 28, Tien also struggles to make a living like many other workers. The competitive job market and declining income cause him some concern. But he continues to help people, seek out positive things, and relieve stress for himself.

Tien’s wish is very simple: to help the right people, within his ability. He only takes a “smile” as payment to make life more beautiful and lighter. The story of Tien, the motorbike taxi driver carrying life’s burdens, is a meaningful lesson about kindness and sharing in life.
