The Investigation Police Agency of Hiep Hoa District Police quickly intervened, clarifying the actions of involved individuals, including the use of trucks to transport dozens of tons of hazardous waste for illegal burial. According to the suspects’ testimony, Nguyen Van Do had collected a large amount of solid waste from metal scrap recycling in Bac Ninh and conceived the idea of burying it to avoid disposal costs. To carry out this scheme, Do hired two semi-trailer trucks at a price of 2,000,000 VND per trip. From April 28, 2024, to May 11, 2024, the suspects successfully completed 8 truck trips transporting waste, each carrying about 25 tons, totaling nearly 200 tons of illegally buried waste. These actions took place at night to avoid detection by residents and authorities.
However, the suspects’ illegal activities could not escape the eyes of law enforcement and local residents. On the evening of May 15, 2024, as the suspects continued to transport waste for burial, they were discovered and arrested.
