BelAZ 75710: Exploring the World’s Largest Mining Truck

In the world of trucks, some machines are more than just transportation; they are symbols of power and grandeur. When discussing the world’s largest trucks, one cannot ignore the BelAZ 75710, a “giant” from Belarus, holding the prestigious Guinness World Record. Created by the Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ) in 2013 to commemorate its 65th anniversary, this truck quickly asserted its dominant position in the ultra-heavy-duty truck segment.

With its outstanding dimensions, the BelAZ 75710 is truly a mobile engineering marvel. The truck boasts an impressive length of 20.5 meters, a width of 8.2 meters, and a height of 9.8 meters. To put it in perspective, this size is equivalent to a 3-story building! This massive appearance not only provides a rugged look but also directly reflects its extraordinary power and transport capabilities.

The BelAZ 75710 “monster” is not only impressive in size but also possesses incredible power. The heart of the truck is a dual-engine system with a total output of over 11,000 horsepower. This power far exceeds that of Formula 1 race cars and is even more powerful than seven Bugatti Chiron supercars combined. To achieve this extraordinary power, the BelAZ 75710 is equipped with two Siemens MTU DD 16V4000 diesel engines, each a 16-cylinder engine with a displacement of 65 liters. Each engine produces 2,332 horsepower and a maximum torque of 9,313 Nm.

These two diesel engines do not directly drive the wheels but operate as generators, providing power to four electric motors. Each of these electric motors generates 1,632 horsepower, bringing the total electric power to 6,528 horsepower. This unique drive system helps the BelAZ 75710 operate powerfully and flexibly while optimizing performance in harsh working conditions at mines. The total torque of the truck reaches an unbelievable 18,626 Nm, about 24 times that of a 2014 Formula 1 race car engine.

However, power comes with an incredible fuel consumption “capability”. The BelAZ 75710 is known as a “fuel-guzzling monster” with a consumption of up to 1,300 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km. To meet this enormous fuel demand, the truck is equipped with a 5,600-liter fuel tank, allowing it to operate continuously for over 400 km without refueling. The truck’s cooling system is also massive, with 890 liters of coolant and each engine containing 269 liters of oil.

The BelAZ 75710 is not only the largest truck but also the truck with the largest payload in history, up to 450 tons. The truck itself weighs 360 tons. Despite its massive size, the BelAZ 75710 can still reach a maximum speed of 64 km/h and travel at a speed of 40 km/h on a 10% gradient. The maximum gradient the truck can overcome is 18%. The turning radius of the truck is 19.8 meters, showing surprising agility for such a huge body.

To ensure safe and efficient operation, the BelAZ 75710 is equipped with an automatic fire suppression system and a comprehensive camera system. The camera system helps the driver easily control the space around the truck and inside the truck bed, minimizing blind spots and increasing safety when operating in complex mining environments. Despite its large size, the cabin of the BelAZ 75710 is only designed for a maximum of 2 people, and the noise level inside is always controlled below 80 dB, equivalent to the noise in a large hall, ensuring relative comfort for the operator.

The BelAZ 75710 deserves to be one of the world’s largest trucks, not only in terms of size but also in terms of power, payload, and the advanced technologies integrated. This “giant” is a testament to the creativity and outstanding technical level of the heavy-duty truck manufacturing industry, while affirming BelAZ’s leading position on the world truck map.
