Around 6:30 AM this morning, a serious traffic accident occurred on Thang Long Highway, Hanoi, tragically killing a young driver. The incident once again raises alarm bells about the dangers of fatal collisions with trucks, especially when driving tired and distracted.
According to initial reports, truck driver Vu Ngoc Hai, born in 2004 and residing in Hanoi, was driving on Thang Long Highway from the city center towards Hoa Lac. Near the An Khanh overpass, Hai’s truck unexpectedly collided forcefully with the rear of another truck driven by Nguyen Duc Tuan, 26 years old. This truck was parked in the emergency lane.
The strong impact completely deformed the front of Vu Ngoc Hai’s truck, crushing it. Driver Hai was trapped in the cabin and did not survive. Nam Tu Liem district authorities had to use specialized equipment to rescue and remove the driver’s body. This fatal truck collision resulted in a heartbreaking outcome.
Data from dashcam footage shows that before the accident, driver Vu Ngoc Hai showed signs of drowsiness and distraction. The truck he was driving crashed straight into the rear of the parked truck at a relatively high speed. The initial cause is believed to be that driver Hai did not maintain a safe following distance and lost control of the speed due to impaired mental alertness.
The fatal truck crash on Thang Long Highway serves as a costly reminder to all drivers, especially long-haul truck drivers. Ensuring alertness, high concentration, and strict adherence to traffic laws is crucial to prevent similar tragic accidents from happening. My Dinh Truck Center advises drivers to get adequate rest and avoid driving when feeling tired to ensure safety for themselves and the community.
