In an increasingly competitive logistics market, Hitachi has introduced an innovative service to optimize transport operations and truck sharing, delivering tangible benefits to businesses in Southeast Asia. This solution not only helps reduce shipping costs but also shortens delivery times while improving the efficiency of truck and container utilization.
Hitachi Asia (Thailand) Ltd., Hitachi’s Southeast Asian headquarters, in collaboration with Hitachi Transport System Vantec (Thailand) Ltd., has officially announced this potentially impactful truck sharing service. The main goal of the service is to optimize freight transport routes, especially for trucks and containers, allowing manufacturers, distributors, retailers, logistics companies, and Hitachi Group entities to significantly minimize operating costs and delivery times.
The Lumada Center Southeast Asia, located in Chonburi Province, Thailand, serves as Hitachi’s big data coordination center and will receive and process truck sharing service applications. Logistics companies participating in the network will continuously update information on cargo status, shipping schedules, and other relevant data, ensuring transparency and efficiency throughout the entire transport process.
In fact, Hitachi’s truck sharing service was successfully piloted for the first three months of the year with Unicharm Corp., a leading Japanese hygiene product manufacturer. The test results showed that the container turnover rate doubled, reaching 30%. This is clear evidence of the great potential of this solution in optimizing transport performance and truck sharing.
With a projected network of up to 21,000 trucks by March 2024, Hitachi expects to generate 8 billion yen (approximately $73 million USD) annually from this truck sharing service. This is not only an important step forward in the field of logistics but also reaffirms Hitachi’s commitment to providing advanced technology solutions, contributing to improved operational efficiency and competitiveness for businesses in the region.
