Thanh Hoa Fire Drill Prepares for Truck Fire Emergencies

Thanh Hoa recently held a large-scale fire prevention and fighting (FPF) and search and rescue (SAR) drill, with the participation of numerous functional forces and local residents. This drill aimed not only to raise fire safety awareness among the community but also to specifically focus on the ability to respond to complex fire and explosion situations, including the risk of truck fires in Thanh Hoa, a significant concern on the province’s key transport routes.

The drill was divided into two main simulated scenarios: a fire in a residential area and a chain traffic accident with people trapped. In the residential fire scenario, the emphasis was placed on the ability to quickly handle a spreading fire, especially in complex urban traffic conditions that could affect fire truck access to the scene, a factor similar to the challenges when a truck fire occurs in Thanh Hoa on crowded streets.

The simulated fire at Thien Thanh Restaurant (17 Dinh Liet Street, Lam Son Ward) was designed with a scenario originating from an electrical short circuit causing a fire in a dry alcohol container. The fire quickly spread, generating significant toxic smoke and heat radiation, threatening the lives of those trapped inside.

On-site FPF forces, including ward police, civil defense, civil protection, ward health services, and the Military Command, quickly deployed initial firefighting and rescue operations. The smooth coordination between forces, along with the timely support of the Provincial Police Department of Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police, helped control the fire and successfully rescue the victims.

The second scenario focused on traffic accident rescue and salvage at the Chim Hac roundabout (Hung Vuong Avenue, Dong Huong Ward). The scenario simulated a head-on collision between a truck and a passenger car, causing multiple injuries and people trapped in the vehicles. This situation is particularly important because truck accidents not only cause casualties and property damage but also carry the potential risk of truck fires in Thanh Hoa due to strong impacts causing fuel leaks or electrical shorts.

In this scenario, rescue forces deployed formations, using specialized equipment to cut and break open vehicles, extract victims, and provide initial first aid. The drill clearly demonstrated the professionalism and effective response capability of Thanh Hoa’s SAR forces, especially in complex situations involving trucks and large transport vehicles.

Speaking at the drill, Mr. Phung Xuan Tien, Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, emphasized the importance of FPF and SAR work in the current situation. He praised the close coordination between forces and requested continued strengthening of propaganda to raise fire safety awareness among the public, especially vehicle owners and transport businesses, to minimize the risk of truck fires in Thanh Hoa and other fire and explosion incidents.

The FPF and SAR drill in Thanh Hoa was a practical activity, contributing to improving the response capacity of functional forces and the fire safety awareness of the people. In the context of truck fires in Thanh Hoa and traffic accidents involving trucks still posing many risks, enhancing drills and equipping fire safety knowledge and skills is essential to ensure safety for people and property.
