A horrific truck accident occurred on the afternoon of January 12th in Nam Can commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, resulting in the deaths of 6 people, including 3 children. A truck carrying dong leaves lost control and crashed into a roadside convenience store, causing heartbreaking consequences.
6 Lives Lost in Devastating Accident
At approximately 4:45 PM on January 12th, a truck carrying dong leaves was descending a slope in Nam Can commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An when it suddenly lost control. The truck veered directly into a roadside convenience store in Tham Hin village, killing 5 people at the scene instantly. The victims included both adults and children.
Local residents nearby rushed to the scene to assist, taking one injured person to the hospital for emergency care, but unfortunately, the victim succumbed to their injuries. In total, 6 people tragically lost their lives in this devastating accident.
Scene of Chaos After Truck Accident
At the scene, part of the house and convenience store was collapsed and severely damaged by the truck. The victims were trapped under the truck and debris, including concrete and overturned motorbikes. The accident occurred on a steep slope with a bend in the road. Nam Can commune is a border commune adjacent to Laos, approximately 250km from the city center of Vinh.
Investigation into the Cause of the Truck Accident
Law enforcement and local authorities arrived at the scene to investigate and offer condolences to the families of the victims. The truck driver has been detained to assist with the investigation. Mr. Phan Huy Chuong, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, stated that on the morning of January 13th, representatives of the committee visited the scene to offer condolences and support to the affected families, providing initial assistance of 5 million VND per deceased victim.
The deceased victims have been identified as: Mrs. L.T.K. (40 years old), Ms. V.Y.D. (20 years old), V.T.P. (7 years old), V.X.D. (9 years old), V.Y.M. (11 years old), and V.Y.D. (2 years old). The deceased victims were related to each other as cousins. The truck driver is Mr. V.V.H. (43 years old, from Tuong Duong district, Nghe An province). The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
