A tragic accident occurred at approximately 4:30 AM on May 7th in Chu Se town, Chu Se district, Gia Lai province, resulting in 13 fatalities and 32 injuries. The Gia Lai Provincial Police Department is actively investigating the incident.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Son, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of Gia Lai Province, the driver, Vo Ngoc Quy (27 years old, residing in Binh Dinh province), was driving a truck carrying 20 tons of fertilizer from Binh Dinh to Chu Pah district, Gia Lai. Upon reaching Ham Rong slope, Quy drove at high speed, damaging the barrier of the BOT Duc Long Gia Lai toll station.

Subsequently, Quy continued to drive at high speed, swerving, honking continuously, and overtaking numerous vehicles traveling in the same direction for nearly 30km. Upon reaching Chu Se town, Quy drove into the opposite lane and collided with a sleeper bus carrying 42 passengers driven by Nguyen Van Vuong (52 years old, residing in Nam Dinh).

The investigating agency took blood samples from driver Quy twice for testing, and both results were negative for drugs. Upon inspecting the two vehicles, the Gia Lai Provincial Police Force also found no technical faults with the vehicles. Currently, the investigating agency has initiated a criminal case for investigation in accordance with regulations. Whether or not to prosecute the accused depends on the health of driver Quy, who is currently in a deep coma.

Health Status of the Driver and Victims
Driver Quy suffered severe multiple injuries, is in a deep coma, and has been transferred to Cho Ray Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) for further treatment. Among the 32 victims being treated at Gia Lai General Hospital, only 3 patients with severe injuries are continuing treatment, while the rest have been discharged from the hospital.
