On January 9th, Nghe An police continued to expand the investigation into a large-scale drug trafficking ring, involving Mr. Mua Ba Vu, Chairman of the Na Ngoi Commune People’s Committee, Ky Son district.
The arrest took place on the same morning in Hung Chinh commune, Vinh city. The police surrounded and arrested a suspected drug-transporting pickup truck.
Nghe An police arresting a truck carrying drugs
According to a video recorded by locals, plainclothes police officers asked the pickup truck carrying Mr. Vu and another man to stop for an administrative check. However, the two men did not comply and accelerated to escape. The police had to fire several warning shots to control the situation, tighten the encirclement, and successfully arrest them.
The seized exhibits at the scene included 35 kg of synthetic drugs and 4 packs of heroin, carefully hidden in several locations, wrapped in nylon bags and dried tea packages.
The incident caused public shock due to the involvement of a commune chairman. Previously, in mid-December 2024, Mr. Mua Dua Thai, former Party Secretary and Chairman of Na Ngoi Commune, was also arrested by Vinh City Police for trading more than 28,000 transnational synthetic drug pills. This shows that the drug trade situation in the locality is complex. Nghe An police are continuing to investigate the case and hunt down the related subjects. The arrest of a truck carrying drugs in Nghe An once again raises a warning bell about the rampant drug problem.
