On the morning of February 24th, a traffic accident occurred on National Highway 14, passing through Chu Se town, Gia Lai, when a pig truck overturned. The incident caused hundreds of pigs on the truck to panic and run out, causing chaos and affecting traffic in the area.

According to initial information, the pig truck, with an unknown license plate, was traveling on National Highway 14 in the direction of Dak Lak to Gia Lai. When it reached the area of Chu Se town, the truck suddenly lost control, crashed into a pine tree on the side of the road and overturned. The accident was quite strong, causing the car’s glass to shatter and the truck’s container to burst open, creating an opportunity for the pigs to escape. The driver and co-driver were lucky to escape and were not seriously injured.

Support from Locals and Overcoming the Consequences of the Truck Overturn
The pig truck overturning caused about 190 live pigs out of more than 200 on the truck to scatter around the area. Many panicked pigs ran into people’s gardens and coffee fields, making it difficult to collect them. It is estimated that about 20 pigs died due to impact during the overturning of the truck.

Immediately after the incident, local people quickly arrived to help the driver and co-driver herd the pigs back. Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, a local resident living near the scene, said that it took more than an hour to herd the pigs back together because they were too panicked and running everywhere. Functional forces were also dispatched to the scene to divert traffic, ensure safety and support the recovery from the consequences. Another truck was dispatched to continue transporting the remaining pigs to the slaughterhouse in Gia Lai.

Investigation into the Cause of the Pig Truck Overturning
Currently, the cause of the pig truck overturning is being investigated by functional agencies. Initially, it can be identified that the cause may have stemmed from the driver’s lack of concentration, inability to control the speed, or due to technical factors of the vehicle. The pig truck overturning once again sounds an alarm bell about traffic safety, especially for vehicles transporting goods on national highways.
