Truck inspection fees are clearly regulated according to weight.

Truck Inspection Fees by Weight

According to Circular 55/2022/TT-BTC, truck inspection fees are classified based on the truck’s weight. Specifically:

  • Trucks over 20 tons: VND 570,000/truck.
  • Trucks from 7 to 20 tons: VND 360,000/truck.
  • Trucks from 2 to 7 tons: VND 330,000/truck.
  • Trucks under 2 tons: VND 290,000/truck.

Note: The above fees do not include the fee for issuing an inspection certificate.

Truck Re-Inspection Fees

If the vehicle does not meet the technical safety and environmental protection standards, the owner must maintain, repair, and re-inspect the vehicle. The re-inspection fee will be calculated as follows:

  • Re-inspection on the same day: Free for the first 2 times, from the 3rd time onwards, 50% of the initial fee will be charged.
  • Re-inspection within 7 days (excluding holidays): 50% of the initial fee will be charged for each re-inspection.
  • Re-inspection after 7 days (excluding holidays): The fee is the same as the first inspection.

Which Trucks Are Exempt from the First Inspection?

According to Circular 08/2023/TT-BGTVT, some types of motor vehicles are exempt from the first inspection, including:

  • New and unused vehicles, with the year of manufacture up to the year of submitting the application for the first inspection certificate being less than 3 years (year of manufacture plus 2 years).

15-Day Inspection Certificate Cases

Circular 08/2023/TT-BGTVT clearly states: Motor vehicles inspected and issued with a 15-day inspection certificate are not considered the first cycle. This means that after 15 days, the vehicle owner must still carry out inspection according to the normal cycle prescribed for their vehicle type.

Regular truck inspection ensures traffic safety and environmental protection.
