On October 31, 2024, the Investigative Police Agency of Dak R’lấp District Police, Dak Nong Province, detained Tran Van Loc (born in 2003, residing in Krong Bong District, Dak Lak) for investigation of fraudulent appropriation of property. According to initial investigations, Tran Van Loc created a Facebook account named “Nguyen Huu Luu” and joined groups for buying and selling used cars, motorcycles, and car parts on social media. Exploiting the demand for “giá xe ôtô bán tải cũ đăk nông” (used pickup truck prices Dak Nong) and other types of vehicles online, Loc copied images of vehicles from genuine sellers and reposted them on his personal page “Nguyen Huu Luu” at surprisingly low prices.
When people contacted him to inquire about buying vehicles, hoping to find the best “giá xe ôtô bán tải cũ đăk nông” (used pickup truck prices Dak Nong), Loc instructed them to connect on Zalo with the account “Vat Lieu Co Gioi Huu Luu” to discuss details. After agreeing on a price and building trust by giving various reasons, Loc asked customers to deposit money into his personal bank account. After receiving the deposit, he immediately blocked contact and appropriated the money.
Using this method, from January 2024 until his arrest, Loc defrauded hundreds of people across the country with a total amount of approximately 500 million VND. Among the victims, Mr. Nguyen Tien T from Dak R’lấp District lost 5 million VND in deposit money when trying to buy a used car online. This case is a costly warning to those searching for “giá xe ôtô bán tải cũ đăk nông” (used pickup truck prices Dak Nong) and conducting online transactions.
