At approximately 1:55 PM on January 21st, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred at km76+410 on National Route 5, within Kim Luong commune, Kim Thanh district, Hai Duong province. A truck with license plate 29C-71953 crashed into a group of pedestrians participating in a funeral procession. The aftermath resulted in 7 fatalities at the scene, 1 death en route to the hospital, and 5 others injured.

Investigation into the Deadly Truck Accident
Immediately following the accident, authorities arrived at the scene to establish a cordon, investigate the cause, and manage the aftermath. Kim Thanh District Police are coordinating with relevant units to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident. The Ba Hang Traffic Police Station has cordoned off the accident scene.
The National Traffic Safety Committee stated that this is a particularly serious incident involving a commercial transport vehicle. Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Head of Ba Hang Station, Traffic Police Department of Hai Duong Provincial Police, confirmed the information and stated that the funeral procession was walking across the road when they were suddenly struck by the oncoming truck.

Government Directs Aftermath Management
Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, sent his deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Simultaneously, he requested the Provincial People’s Committee to direct rescue and relief efforts, prioritize the emergency treatment of the injured to minimize casualties, organize traffic control to quickly restore traffic flow, and ensure safety at the accident scene.
The Deputy Prime Minister also assigned Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The and Standing Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Khuat Viet Hung, along with leaders of relevant agencies of the Ministry of Transport, to urgently go to the scene, directly visit and express condolences to the families of the victims, and coordinate with Hai Duong province to direct the handling of the incident.
