Power from a Duramax Diesel Engine
Unlike other monster trucks that typically use gasoline engines, Jordan opted for a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine for his “beast.” While not boasting impressive horsepower, this engine generates immense torque, enabling the truck to effortlessly conquer any challenging terrain. Paired with a custom-built 2-speed Powerglide transmission, known for readily available replacement parts, Jordan’s monster truck became both powerful and durable.
Overcoming Challenges and Constant Repairs
After 5 years of conquering difficult terrains, Jordan has faced numerous breakdowns, notably replacing the transmission 5 times. One of his initial outings resulted in two bent rims, deformed mud flaps, and various other damages. To ensure operational capability, the truck is equipped with two reinforced tractor rims, along with large agricultural tires commonly used in China. Measuring nearly 5.5 meters in length, 2.74 meters in width, and weighing over 4.76 tons, this is truly a “giant” on the road.
Body – The Least Important Element
The body of the truck is believed to be from a 1970-1971 Chevrolet C/K pickup. However, this is not particularly crucial for a monster truck. The body is frequently subjected to impacts and requires repairs. Instead of investing in the body, monster truck builders typically focus on the chassis, tires, roll cage, wheels, and drivetrain – the core elements that define the truck’s power and performance.
