Initial investigations by the Thanh Hoa City Police revealed that the pickup truck, bearing license plate 29C-402.61, driven by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam (born 1968, residing in Thanh Hoa City), was traveling North-South when it suddenly swerved into the opposite lane. At the same time, a truck with license plate 36C-097.20, driven by Mr. Nguyen Van Binh (born 1985, residing in Dong Thanh commune, Dong Son district, Thanh Hoa province), traveling South-North, was unable to react in time, leading to a forceful collision.
The devastating impact caused severe damage to both vehicles, which skidded along the road. Critically, the pickup truck 29C-402.61 was carrying eight passengers at the time, exceeding the legal limit. Tragically, one person, Ms. Nguyen Thi Vinh (born 1928), died en route to the hospital, and seven others were injured, including the driver Nguyen Thanh Tam, who is in critical condition. The other victims include Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong (born 1974) and several children: Nguyen Thi Yen, Nguyen Huong Giang (born 2005), Nguyen Phuong Vy (born 2009), and a 4-year-old child.
